On Saturday, June 22, the third edition of the Kaizen League took place in Zwolle, an international grappling event with the Braus Foundation as the special theme. This prestigious event, organized in the Landstede Sports Hall, provided a day full of sporting highlights. This year, three teams from Zwolle participated in the tournament, with a total of 28 athletes competing for the gold medals and the honor of their city.
With representation from 33 nationalities, there were many new participants on the mat. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), the central sport during the event, is a dynamic martial art that combines elements of judo and wrestling, with fights often being decided on the ground through submission. Familiar to many from the UFC, where ground fighting is a key component, BJJ offered a unique and exciting viewing experience. In addition to the competitive matches, there was also a BJJ market organized with various stalls, where visitors could enjoy Brazilian ice cream, superfood bars, sportswear, and other merchandise.
